The island
Stories of place
Guides frame the route with island culture, geography, geology, and natural history instead of leaving the drive silent.

Guides, storytellers, ambassadors
The people on the road are not just pointing at the horizon. They are carrying the island’s stories, the mountain’s conditions, and the night sky into one considered experience.
A legacy in the field
Mauna Kea Summit Adventures traces its pioneering guide-service story to founder Monte “Pat” Wright and the decision to make the summit more understandable for visitors without losing its sense of scale.
Today’s team is positioned by the company as knowledgeable storytellers, adventurers, and Big Island ambassadors. The existing site reports more than 50 years of combined guide experience on the mountain.

What a guide brings
The island
Guides frame the route with island culture, geography, geology, and natural history instead of leaving the drive silent.
The mountain
High elevation, rapidly changing weather, and cold require attention. The guide team helps keep the experience calm and prepared.
The sky
At the stargazing location, the telescope, laser, and narrative give guests a way into the visible night sky.
